The Seattle Mariners came into Cleveland on Tuesday after winning three out of their last four, and hoping to duplicate what the New York Mets did in Cleveland over the weekend. Game one saw twenty-nine year olds Wade Miley and Carlos Carrasco faceoff against each other, as Carrasco looked to continue his domincance while Miley looked to bounceback from his rough first two starts. Miley got out of jams with double play balls in both the first and second innings, but back-to-back doubles by Francisco Lindor and Mike Napoli in the third inning got Cleveland on the board first 1-0. Miley struck out Yan Gomes to start the fourth, but that was followed by a Marlon Byrd single, a Juan Uribe walk, a Collin Cowgill walk, an RBI walk by Rajai Davis, a Kipnis strikeout, a Francisco Lindor RBI walk, and Miley's removal from the game down 3-0. In the top of the sixth, Kyle Seager hit a homerun to right and got Seattle on the board, but that was the only run Seattle would get off of Carlos Carrasco. While Carrasco didn't have his best stuff, he was backed by incredible deffensive plays by Francisco Lindor and wound up tossing 6.1 innings of one run ball on 4 hits, 3 walks, and 5 strikeouts. With Cody Allen on the hill in the ninth, Adam Lind doubled to leadoff the inning, moved to third on Chris Iannetta's flyout, and scored on an RBI groundout by Leonys Martin to make it a 3-2 game. However, Allen made sure it was too little too late by striking out Franklin Gutierrez to notch his fourth save.
Things to note about game one
*Francisco Lindor not only dazzled with his glove, but went 3-3 at the plate with a run scored, and RBI, and a walk
*Marlon Byrd notched two more hits, his third multi-hit game of the season
*Struggling Cleveland reliever Bryan Shaw pitched a scorless 8th inning and stranded Robinson Cano after he hit a one out double
*Zach McAllister went 2/3 of a perfect inning, making his WHIP .43
*Carlos Carrasco has now made 21 consecutive starts with 5+ strikeouts
*Terry Francona and the training staff came out twice to check on Carlos Carrasco after plays at first base, but the Cleveland starter was able to stay in the game both times
*Wade Miley had not walked a single batter all season until his four walk fourth inning
*Wade Miley marked the 7th lefty Cleveland has faced in their first 11 games
*Kyle Seager came into the game hitting .119, but after a 2-4 game upped it to .152, making him a lifetime .418/4 HR hitter at Progressive Field
Indians righty Danny Salazar and Mariners righty Taijuan Walker have both gotten off to tremendous starts this season, so we knew that on Wednesday they would give us a great pitching match-up. Neither pitcher disappointed, as the game wound up being decided by one run and both teams combined for just seven hits. After Adam Lind singled, followed by a walk by Chris Iannetta to start the second inning, Salazar got Leonys Martin to line-out and Luis Sardinas strike-out, but Nori Aoki capitalized with a two-out 2-run triple into the right field corner. Juan Uribe doubled to start off the bottom of the third inning, but Taijaun Walker made a great play on a Tyler Naquin comebacker to retire Uribe in a rundown between second and third. The rundown play proved crucial and helped Walker limit the Tribe to only one run on a Jason Kipnis sac fly later in the inning. In the bottom of the seventh, Cleveland lost another runner in a rundown after a Juan Uribe walk; Terry Francona brought in Rajai Davis to pinch-run for Uribe, but Davis was quickly picked-off and caught stealing on the following play to end the inning. Cleveland would threaten one last time in the bottom of the 8th against Joaquin Benoit with a lead-off single by Tyler Naquin, followed by a Jose Ramirez bunt back to the mound that Benoit fielded and threw out Naquin heading to second. Following the bunt, Ramirez advanced to second on a wild pitch but Benoit retired both Jason Kipnis and Francisco Lindor to end the threat. Seattle closer Steve Cishek pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, and despite a great start by Danny Salazar (7 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 7 K's) he was handed his first loss of the season with the 2-1 final.
Things to note about game one
*The 7th inning of game two marked the first inning this season that Danny Salazar has not recorded at least one strikeout
*Salazar continues to put up great numbers in April, as he has started out this year at 2-1 with a 1.47 ERA, and last year was 3-0 with a 3.32 in April
*Following the Nori Aoki triple, Seattle had no more hits and just two more baserunners the rest of the game
*Lonnie Chisenhall returned from the DL for Cleveland, going 0-3 at the plate
*Francisco Lindor went 1-4 at the plate, and made it four straight games with at least one hit
*Taijaun Walker now has a career .45 ERA in three starts against Cleveland
In a series that had been dominated by good pitching, Thursday's game three turned out much differently. With Cody Anderson on the hill for Cleveland opposed by Nathan Karns for the Seattle Mariners, the two teams combined for 17 runs which more than doubled the number of runs scored so far in the entire series. The Mariners started the offense in the second inning when catcher Steve Clevenger hit a two run homerun to right off of Cody Anderson to make it a 2-0 Mariner lead. The Mariners were at it again in the fourth with an RBI single by Nori Aoki and a sacrifice fly by Nelson Cruz that made it 4-0 Mariners. Terry Francona then went to the bullpen and brought in Trevor Bauer, who immediately walked the first two batters he faced to make it a 5-0 Seattle lead. Cleveland finally struck back against Karns in the fifth when Rajai Davis hit a laser into the bleachers for a three run homerun cutting it to a 5-3 lead, but that wouldn't last long. In the top of the sixth the Mariners got an RBI double off the bat of Robinson Cano and an RBI single by Nelson Cruz to increase their lead up to 7-3 and hopefully put it out of reach. However, Cleveland was not done chipping at the Seattle lead, as they got an RBI double off the bat of Jose Ramirez to score Carlos Santana all the way from first, followed by a Lonnie Chisenhall RBI single to make it a 7-5 game. In the bottom of the eighth, Seattle called on Joaquin Benoit to hold on to the lead, but he was met by a clutch two-run game-tying bomb by Mike Napoli, who pinch-hit for Roberto Perez. The game was still tied in the bottom of the ninth when Francisco Lindor walked, and Cleveland put him in motion to try to start a two-out rally.

In the top of the tenth Cleveland closer Cody Allen, who had pitched a perfect ninth, went back out to the mound for a second inning. Steve Clevenger walked to start the inning and was replaced by pinch-runner Luis Sardinas. Allen got Ketel Marte to line out to center, allowed Sardinas to advance on a wild pitch, then got a big out number two with a Nori Aoki line out that sent Sardinas to third. Unfortunately, Allen wouldn't get another out. Allen gave up a walk to Franklin Gutierrez and then Robinson Cano stepped up...

Steve Cishek got Cleveland 1-2-3 in the bottom of the tenth, and secured a 10-7 victory and a series win for the Seattle Mariners.
Things to note about game three
*Francisco Lindor was 0-4, snapping a four game hit streak
*Lonnie Chisenhall's RBI single in the sixth was his first hit and RBI of the year
*Zach McAllister continued to impress and went 1.1 scoreless in relief allowing just one hit
*Prior to Mike Napoli's homerun, the Seattle bullpen had surrendered just two runs in their last 24 innings
*Robinson Cano went 3-5 with 4 RBI
*Robinson Cano's tenth inning jack was his first career hit off Cody Allen, as he had previously gone 0-7 off the right-hander
