Royals Recieve Good News On Perez

As previously noted yesterday, in the postgame press conference after yesterday's game Ned Yost said Salvador Perez had a "quad contusion" and that he would get a MRI last night and have more information as to the extent of it today.

The MRI of Salvador's left leg showed no ligament damage and he will be out 7-10 days with a quad contusion. Salvador was taken out of the game yesterday in the top of the 9th inning after colliding with 3rd baseman Cheslor Cuthbert. #ForeverRoyal -#RoyalNoah

The New Chicago Cubs

4 years ago today, The Chicago Cubs were on pace to lose 108 games. That team was led by Darwin Barney, Tony Campana, David DeJesus, Marlon Byrd, Brett Jackson, and Matt Garza. Some not so fond memories can be dug out by those names. Fast forward to right now & this 2016 Chicago Cubs team led by Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Addison Russell, Ben Zobrist, and Jake Arrieta is on pace to win 112 games. Trust me, They're not stopping anytime soon.

But how good can they be? Let me just throw out some stats for you guys. Their 31-14 start is their best start since 1914 when they started off 31-13. The only other times they came close to this was in 1903 & 1907. The Cubs have a team ERA of 2.70 and their opponents BA is a solid .200. Talking about pitching, we are watching HISTORY right now every time Jake Arrieta steps on the mound. He tied a major league record yesterday by winning his 20th straight decision. Just when you thought the 2003/2007/2008 team couldn't get better, it has and it is built up for a dynasty.

Fans on the North Side tend to forget too that with all this success happening right now, one major piece is missing; Kyle Schwarber. The power smashing "Babe Ruth". In 69 games of his rookie season last year, he belted 16 HR and plated 43 runs across the board. He was a key success for the Cubs post ASG & in the post season where he batted a .333 & hit 5 home runs tying a Cubs post season record. Could you imagine if he was playing everyday how much more that lineup would be structured? Oh lord. But we wish Kyle the best recovery this season to come back stronger next year.

30 years down the road we are going to look back on this 2016 team (the 2015 team as well) and really think how special it was. It's only 2 months in and we have a lot of memories already. The Javy Baez walk off on Mothers Day, The Addison Russell home run on the Home Opener, or how about Arrieta's second no hitter?

It's a great year to be a fan of the "Love-able Losers" & we haven't even seen the best of this team yet. When its 80 degrees, clear skies, and the wind blowing out at Wrigley; Ball hawks be ready because with Bryzzo hitting back to back, we all know some balls will be flying onto Waveland. It's going to be a great summer for this New Chicago Cubs team & every fan certainly deserves it.

A Horrendous Start to the Yankees 2016 Season

The New York Yankees third baseman, Chase Headley, is coming off his second failed season in the past three seasons. He's hitting .156 with a .156 slugging percentage, so it's only human nature to replace him. This is normally what a bad team does in this particular situation, however, if you look at the Yankees schedule, as well as its bench, and then decide if that utility infielder, Ronald Torreyes, picked up on a waiver claim in February is just what this lineup needs, by all means, what are they waiting for.

The Yankees are currently an aging team, and have lost five consecutive games and presently 8-15, a record that puts them on pace to go to go 56-106. Their April winning percentage puts them on the third lowest by a Yankees team in well over a hundred years, in addition to playing the worst twenty-games to begin a season in a particular month to start a season. Of the six Yankees teams that had a sub -400 winning percentage at the outset of the season, some players rebounded for the most part, the 1984 Yankees had the best record in baseball in the second half; the 1985 team won 97 games, and the 2007 team won 94 - but just one made the postseason, where they were promptly eliminated.

Royals Even Series With Indians

ROYALS WIN 7-0 over the Cleveland Indians and win game 2 of the 3 game series. The offense finally broke through as they exploded for 7 runs and it all got started in the first inning when Kendrys Morales hit a 3-run bomb and that was just the beginning of a good offensive game. 8 of the 9 Royals hitters in the lineup today got at least one hit and 4 of those 8 had 2. Ian Kennedy pitched great and saved most of the bullpen from pitching giving them a much needed day off. Ian pitched 7 complete innings giving up 0 runs on just 4 hits, 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. The final and decisive game of the series is tomorrow. For the Tribe Josh Tomlin will pitch and Edinson Volquez will pitch for the Royals. The game is scheduled for 12:10 at Progressive Field. #ForeverRoyal -#RoyalNoah

Dodgers Deciding to Call Up No. 2 Overall Prospect

The Los Angeles Dodgers manager, Dave Roberts, is deciding whether or not to call up Julio Urias, the No. 2 overall prospect according to MLBPipeline.com, to try and shore up the teams struggling bullpen.

"We're thinking through a lot of options and Urias is definitely at the top of the list," Roberts told reporters Saturday morning.

The Dodgers are also considering calling up Jose De Leon or Jharel Cotton for the role, however, the team is leaning strongly towards Urias due to their need for another left-handed reliever.

Through his first four starts this season in Triple-A, Urias has been on a tear. The Mexican southpaw owns a 3-1 record with Oklahoma City in 2016, carving out a 1.88 ERA and a 0.78 WHIP while limiting batters to a minuscule .163 average. Urias also has one appearance in relief this season, striking out three over three innings in a 10-2 loss against the Omaha Storm Chasers.

The 19-year-old was signed by the Dodgers organization on August 23, 2012.

Yankees Begin Three Game Series Against Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox swept the New York Yankees last weekend at Fenway Park to help them take sole possession of first place in the A.L. East.

The Red Sox remain in first place as they head to New York for a three-game weekend set (Fri. - Sun.) at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees and Red Sox are heading in opposite directions as of right now. Boston (17-11) has won 10 of their last 13 games, where as the last-place Yankees (9-17) have lost eight of their past 10 games.

New York is already seven games behind Boston in the standings - and three games behind fourth-place Tampa Bay Rays.

Rick Porcello starts Friday for Boston opposite Michael Pineda. Porcello joined Chicago Cubs' Jake Arrieta, Chicago White Sox's Chris Sale and Detroit Tigers' Jordan Zimmerman as the only starting pitchers in MLB to win all five starts in April.

Oakland A's Starter Chris Bassitt to Undergo Tommy John Surgery

Oakland A's starter, Chris Bassitt, will have to undergo Tommy John surgery Friday for a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament, the team announced Thursday.

Bassitt, 27, is a former 16th-round pick who stepped up to have a major impact on Oakland's pitching staff last year.

The right-hander even sought a second opinion after his MRI last week. On Thursday, however, Dr. Timothy Kremchek determined that ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, or Tommy John surgery, was indeed necessary. This particular procedure requires a 12- to 18- month recovery for pitchers.

The Athletics acquired Bassist from the Chicago White Sox last December, and opened the 2016 season in Oakland's starting rotation after he had an impressive second half to the 2015 season. Before Bassitt injured his elbow last week, he had started five games for the A's, in which he went 0-2 with a 6.11 ERA.

In over parts of two seasons with the Athletics, Bassitt has a 4.18 ERA (95 ERA+) with a 1.38 WHIP in 18 starts along with five relief appearances, striking out 87 batters while allowing just ten home runs in 114 innings.

Oakland has since called up rookie Sean Manaea for his major league debut on April 29, which happened to be the same day as Bassitt's MRI. Over his first two starts, Manaea has a 7.20 ERA.

The win the Houston Astros desperately needed

By: Jordan Smith

The Houston Astros grabbed a win that they absolutely needed tonight, creaming the Minnesota Twins by a final of 16-4 in front of a crowd of 20,847 at Minute Maid Park tonight.

This win by the Houston Astros gets them to the 10 win mark on the season and brings their record to a 10-18 record for the season. Jose Altuve once again is doing something historic as he is only three- count them 3- home runs away from tying Craig Biggio's Single Season Franchise Record for most lead-off home runs in a single season with 8. The thing that makes this so crazy is that Jose Altuve has 5 lead-off home runs this season already... and we haven't even gotten to the middle of May yet!!!

Other Astros contributed as well. Jason Castro and Carlos Correa smacked home runs as well in this game to add to the run total of the Houston Astros. Scott Feldman ended up getting the win tonight as he came in to relief Mike Fiers the next inning after he was taken out of the game.

Overall, this was a great game tonight by the Houston Astros as it was a game where it seemed like they were letting their frustration out with their early season struggles. For the first time this season, the Houston Astros have back to back wins, which is the longest drought to start the season that the Houston Astros have ever had in Franchise History. It isn't anything to worry about though as right now, the Houston Astros are dominating in the month of May. So, this will be their turnaround month and they will go on a tear and absolutely be back to the team of last season.
