Athletics Place Rich Hill on DL

The Oakland Athletics have placed Rich Hill on the disabled list with a strained right groin.

He was recovering from a previous groin injury when, during a 35-pitch bullpen session on Thursday, he felt a pull on the 33rd pitch of the session.

He first suffered the injury on May 29 against the Detroit Tigers then missed his next scheduled start against the Houston Astros earlier this week. He was named the AL Pitcher of the Month for May, posting a 2.25 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 74 strikeouts in 64 innings pitched.

If he doesn't return this season, he'll be looking for a new team. He's currently on a one-year, $6 million deal with the Athletics.
