The Chicago Cubs have placed outfielder Dexter Fowler on the 15-day DL with a hamstring strain.

He suffered the injury while sliding into first base during Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, a game which the Cubs won 4-3. He also missed Sunday's game.

He has hit seven home runs and has recorded six stoles bases in 284 plate appearances this season.

He also ranks 10th in the National League with a .398 on-base percentage and is the front runner for all NL outfielders in the All-Star voting.
