On Friday afternoon, it was reported that New York Mets RHP
Jenrry Mejia has violated the MLB’s use of performing enhancing drugs for the
third time, resulting in a lifetime ban from Major League Baseball.
After serving a 50 game suspension, Mejia appeared in seven
games in 2015, where he pitched 7.1 innings and didn’t allow a run. Shortly after his return, he was suspended a
second time for 162 games.
It was unclear on whether or not the Mets would bring him
back for the 2016 season; however, they elected to give the 26 year old one
more chance. Unfortunately for the Mets,
Mejia will never be play professional baseball again in North America.
Despite this bad news, the Mets will still have a strong
bullpen as we near Spring Training. With
names among the likes of Jeurys Familia, Antonia Bastardo, and Addison Reed in
the pen, the Mets will still be in good shape come the start of the season.
OUCH!!!.......The guy obviously has a problem. Hope he can overcome it and move on with his life.
