Football season is finally over. Been waiting what feels like forever to say that. Now we can all focus on the sport that matters most. Pitchers and catchers report in less than two weeks. Spring training is around the corner. In my opinion Opening Day needs to be made a national holiday. There is a lot of hype around this season. The Cubs are picked to win it all (and 100 wins as well by some experts). The same as the Nationals were picked to run away with the senior circuit last year. Honestly there is no team I'd fear more than the Mets. Who wants to face that pitching staff? Counting my blessings they aren't in the NL Central. The Giants and DBacks have retooled and are ready to make a run. All the while, the Cardinals and Pirates (the two teams with the most wins in baseball last year) are playing second and third and possibly fourth fiddle. Many people pick them both to miss the playoffs entirely. I'll take that chip on our shoulder any day Redbirds fans. Don't be surprised if the Birds On The Bat and the Jolly Roger are the top two in the league once again. All I know is, regardless of who wins it all, its going to be one exciting season. Cannot wait for this wild ride to begin. Baseball is back!
