Cubs used Heyward to Lure Lester?
That big free agent pitcher is out there on the market and you know you need to do everything possible to sway him to sign with your ball club. The compition will be tough so how do you get creative with a sales pitch? Well per Patrick Mooney, during the off season that the Cubs signed Lester to a 6 year 155 million dollar contract the Cubs created an elaborate presentation For Lester's recruiting visit to Wrigley by unveiling a diamond diagram Projecting their 2016 lineup. Are you curious who was slotted in centerfield and batting lead off? Have any ideas? If you guessed Jason heyward, who is projected to be in centerfield for the Cubs this year you would be right! Anyone else find it extremely confident and awesome that the Cubs used a player that wasn't even on the team as a recruitment tool? Also it shows that the front office had their sights set on Heyward since the 2014 off season and went out and got what they wanted right away. It definitely seems that Wriglyville is a destination for free agents now just like Fiji or any other exotic place is to us non baseball players. One thing for sure is that it's is looking bright for this organization and I can't wait to see what unfolds in 2016 for the Chicago cubs!
