In 2015, Fowler hit .250 in 156 games (the most he has ever played in a season). He had career highs in many stats, including home runs (17).
After Fowler denied $15.8 million dollars from the Cubs back in November, the Cubs began a search for an outfielder. Low and behold, they got extremely lucky. Jason Heyward decided to sign with the Cubs under a monster contract. It filled the Cubs' outfield vacancy.
Now, sitting in late January, Fowler still has yet to sign with a team. With no need for Fowler, many MLB sources are saying that the Cubs are most likely to sign Fowler. If they do, Fowler will only work in a back-up role and he will play in singnificantly less game than he did last season.
If you asked me, I want Fowler back and I don't want Fowler back. I respect him as a ball player, I also think he can do better than a back-up role. Again, if they do sign him, it will take a long time for Fowler to get used to not playing on a day to day basis, but I'm sure he'd love the World Series ring, wouldn't we all?
