With Bronson Arroyo officially "Off The Market" after signing a minor league deal with the Nationals, the Marlins find themselves running out of quality options if they want to add another SP before the season starts.
They've looked at a multitude of options so far, including Gallardo, Lohse, Simon, Fister, and Harang.....none of which I consider to be better than what they already have in house. I happen to like Adam Conley better than any of those, especially when you consider the cost of each.
The latest parade of pitchers to march across the stage for the Marlins includes Tim Lincecum, Cliff Lee, and possibly their old buddy Mat Latos. Lincecum is scheduling a work out during Spring Training, and the Marlins will be there to take a look. Cliff Lee is supposed to do the same, but had just recently stated that he may not be able to pitch in 2016. Hopefully, the Marlins' statement that they "will back off if there's an injury risk", will ring true.......IF one exists. I'd love to see a healthy Cliff Lee in a Marlins uniform.
They do have Justin Nicolino and Jose Urena in the minors, and they both have had a "cup of coffee" in the Bigs last year, so it's possible that they get a call after a month or two, if the other guys don't pan out.
They still could use a bullpen arm to solidify the middle innings, but the rest of the roster seems pretty well set.
There's 22 Days left before Pitchers & Catchers report to Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter.......Hopefully they will have it all figured out prior to that date.
