Why Baez Getting Reps At CF ?
As you Cubs fans know Javier Baez will get time to play in CF this winter to get in rhythm to prepare for the realistic outcome when the season begins. Theo wants Baez to get reps out there because we are going to need it and late game situations. Maddon like to switch up things NOT just offense but for defensive sake as well. For example later during the game we will like to go to a defensive stands if we are up a couple of runs we can do that if we put Jason Heyward in his correct position in late games such as after the 7th inning.
Baez in the last 2 games 3-7 . Defensive wise : From CF Baez Throughout a runner trying to score home.
I've heard a lot of chatter about Baez getting traded. I'm hoping he doesn't, I like the stick, and he's a gamer. The K's can be reduced with maturity and some plate discipline. There's so much talent in the minors, I'm hoping that someone else gets traded. Now that Heyward is signed long term, isn't Almora somewhat expendable too? How about McKinney and Alcantara? Baez can play anywhere on the field.....they should keep him around, and enjoy the 25 HR's that he'll be hitting every year (in the near future). Just my thoughts.....
ReplyDeleteBaez have been in tumors only because the Cubs still feel like they can use a young starting pitcher. Baez defense in the clutch is not that good. As you can see in the cardinals series he made a few errors once he got the start for Addison Russell. And don't forget we have a 18-19 year old infield ( Torres ) that's looking good as well.
