Blue Jays Summer of Discontent

Well lets be honest its been a tough summer for the Jays in the Public Relations Department. Double A, Alex Anthopoulos, became a hero after orchestrating key trades that almost landed the Jays in the World Series.  Among the trades David Price was essential and the most popular move. Price and Double A weren't the only ones captivating the hearts of Jays Nation. Josh Donaldson many times throughout the season sent the Rogers Centre into a frenzy of "MVP" chants. Fast forward to the present both AA and Price are gone in exchange for J.A Happ and Mark Shapiro. Josh Donaldson is a Jay but we learned this past week that he and the Jays brass are heading into arbitration over a mere $450 000. Though this seems a tad insane, in light of the Canadian Dollar dropping to 69 cents, every penny counts for the Jays who are rumoured to have a budget of about 145 million. This would have been fantastic news since its higher than last years budget but the dropping dollar has pretty much eaten into all of the difference. The drastic turn then for the Jays have come on and off the field. Will Shapiro, rumoured to be a financially conservative operator, win over fans still longing for Double A a man who understood the market quite well being a Canadian himself? Will J.A Happ and other additions make up for the wins Price would have all but guaranteed? Will long term damage be done to Donaldson's relationship with the Jays brass due to arbitration or will the Jays find a creative solution before the messy process continues? Just like last year perhaps we will be in for many suprises EH? Stay Tuned...
