Three Rockies File for Arbitration

The Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) announced Tuesday that 156 players filed for salary arbitration. Of those 156 players, three were Rockies. Nolan Arenado, Charlie Blackmon, and DJ LeMaiheu all filed for arbitration. In the next 5-6 weeks, players and teams will exchange figures in hopes of reaching an agreement. If the two sides fail to reach an agreement, they will then head to an arbitration hearing, which take place between Febuary 1-21. Many players will also agree to multi-year deals in order to avoid arbitration in the future.

As MLB Trade Rumors notes, here are the four Rockies players that filed for arbitration, with their service time in parenthesis and MLBTR contributor Matt Swartz's projected salary for each:

  • Nolan Arenado (2.155) — $6.6MM
  • Charlie Blackmon (3.102) — $4.5MM
  • DJ LeMahieu (3.128) — $3.7MM
  • Projected total spend: $14.8MM
We will be doing a Q&A with former Arkansas Razorback and now Los Angles Dodger, Mike Bolsinger on Monday, comment your questions below or let us know on Twitter or Facebook!

  1. My guess is that Arenado gets more than 6.6 mil.....and Blackmon gets traded (probably to the White Sox or the Angels). D.J. is worth every penny, hopefully he builds on his 2015 season. He may be pushed into duty at SS, if Reyes gets suspended (looking like it might go that way).

    1. I think Arenado will get more than $6.6MM too. I can see Blackmon getting traded but I think they'll trade Dickerson more. Parra is a better corner outfielder than CF. DJ is the best defensive 2B in baseball and his offense really stepped up in 2015. Has he ever played short? I see him staying at second and them going with Descalso/Adames if Reyes isn't available
