Rockies, Charlie Blackmon Avoid Arbitration

The Rockies announced Monday that they have avoided arbitration with CF Charlie Blackmon, agreeing to a one-year, $3.5MM deal. As MLB Trade Rumors notes, Colorado filed at $2.7MM versus Blackmon's $3.9MM.

"Chuck Nazty" slashed .287/.347/.450 with 17 HR and 58 RBI in 157 games in 2015 and swiped 43 bases along the way. Charlie had a breakout year in 2014 highlighted by an All-Star appearance, which cemented him as Colorado's everyday CF. Blackmon's name has come up in trade talks this winter (as have every one of the Rockies' OF), but it looks like LF Corey Dickerson is the one most likely to be traded out of Dickerson, Blackmon, and RF Carlos Gonzalez.
