An Ode To Edmonds

Jimmy Ballgame deserved a better shake than he got yesterday from the Hall of Fame voters. I'm not arguing that he deserved first ballot induction but he certainly did not deserve to fall off the ballot after one year. I could go in depth statistically why he deserves to be in the Hall but that has already been done enough times that I'd be riding a very dead horse. I'll just leave you with some nostalgic moments for everyone to think back on and marvel.

The over the shoulder catch while playing for the Angels. That straight back dive was one of the greatest catches by any outfielder ever.

Countless home runs robbed, but my favorite still was at Great American Ballpark when he reached so far over the wall with his back turned and still caught it.

The would have been game changing Ausmus double in Game 7 of the 2004 NLCS. Still don't know how he got to that ball.

Game 6. That's all that needs to be said.

Thankfully he was a first round Hall of Famer into the Cardinals Hall of Fame. The only Hall that matters to me anymore.

Thank you Jimmy for making the game look easy.
