Ok Guys.....with Gordon off the block, and the other Big Bats probably about to fall off the table, teams need to act quickly if they're going to fill gaps in their lineups, or improve their team. There's nothing coming from Miami on this subject, but it's something that just makes sense to me......If I was a GM.
The Marlins have a great OF with Yelich, Ozuna, and Stanton. However, Ozuna seems to have fallen out of favor with Loria, so they have been dangling him as trade bait. They've asked for a solid starting pitcher in return.....possibly adding a couple other lower prospects with Ozuna to get a good one. So.....we're allowed to dream a little during the frenzy of the off-season.......so here goes.
Here's what the Marlins should do next...............
Trade Ozuna and a couple prospects to Cleveland for Salazar.....or to San Diego for Ross.....
Then Sign Cespedes to a 6/$115 mil contract, with an opt-out after 2 years.
They could push Yelich back to CF, and the lineup would be pretty solid.....
Gordon
Yelich
Stanton
Cespedes
Bour
Prado
Realmuto
Hechavarria
SP......
They'd sure score some runs. And Cespedes would probably opt-out after 2, but it's fine. There's guys in the minors that should be ready by then................Just a thought!
