Cardinals Place Matt Carpenter on DL

St Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter has been placed on the DL with an oblique injury. He will miss the MLB All-Star Game this coming Tuesday at Petco Park in San Diego.

He suffered the injury on Wednesday night while batting, FOX Sports reports. Shortstop Aledmys Diaz will replace Carpenter in the All-Star Game. Diaz is also Carpenter's teammate.

He is the third St. Louis Cardinals player in three days to be placed on the DL. He led the team in doubles (25), runs scored (56), RBIs (53) and hit 14 home runs.
