The Minnesota Twins have fired general manager Terry Ryan. The Twins currently have the worst record in the American League at 33-58.

They are also 21 games out of first place in the AL Central. The 33-58 record is not just the worst record in the AL, but also the second worst record in the MLB - the Atlanta Braves have a 32-60 record.

Assistant general manager Rob Anthony has been named the interim GM. Twins owner Jim Pholad described the decision to fire Ryan as "difficult, painful and not obvious."
