Mets Place Matt Harvey on DL

The New York Mets have placed pitcher Matt Harvey on the 15-day DL with shoulder discomfort. Harvey has posted a 4-10 record this season with a 4.86 ERA this season.

He was scheduled to pitch this Saturday against the Washington Nationals, but will miss that start. He was to be limited on innings pitched last season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2013. He wound up going over the innings limit and helped the Mets reach the World Series for the first time since 2000.

The Mets are coming off of their second straight four-game sweep of the Chicago Cubs. They swept the Cubs in the 2015 NLCS to reach the World Series. They would lose to the Kansas City Royals in five games.
