Tigers Place Jordan Zimmermann on DL

The Detroit Tigers have placed pitcher Jordan Zimmermann on the DL with a strained muscle in his neck. He was supposed to start against the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday, but Anibal Sanchez will instead pitch that game.

Not only will he miss his start Tuesday, but he will probably miss his next scheduled start against the Toronto Blue Jays. He has allowed 25 runs in 35 innings pitched since June 6.

Sanchez, who will start in Zimmermann's place on Tuesday, has recorded a 6.71 ERA in 12 starts this season.
